Why are props important in horror?

Having completed thins blog i appreciate how important props and costume are, as unique identifiers for certain characters, i learnt that the antagonist often has a set prop or props that becomes associated with them, Pennywise is the balloon and the costume, this has made me think of my own presentation of an antagonist, the opening 2 minutes might not be enough to time to introduce an antagonist but you could introduce his prop.
After this blog i'm thinking for about my antagonist as they are more related to props, I will then look at the target audience for horrors and what their antagonists props are to get a view of what I can use.
